Anirudh Ravichander
Anirudh Ravichandran is the son of late actor Ravi Raghava and Lakshmi Ravichandran, and the nephew of superstar Rajnikant. His father died in 2002, and he was brought up by his mother Lakshmi. He studied in St. Joseph Higher Secondary School, Chennai. After completing school, Ravichandran went to Loyola College, Madras University, where he completed his graduation in 2011.
Ravichandran had always been interested in music since childhood. He practiced singing under renowned Carnatic singer Dr. N. Ramani Pillai. In 2009, he came across the song “Swagatam,” sung by Karthi, and it struck a chord within him. He wrote down the lyrics and composed the tune himself. A few months later, he sent the song to director Shankar. The rest, as they say, is history.
Career
In 2010, he composed the soundtrack for the Telugu movie Chitramala Kotigobba Kodalu. His next work was the soundtrack for the Kannada movie Bhale Jodi directed by Srinivas Krishna, followed by the Hindi remake of the same name. In 2012, he scored Vishnuvardhan’s romantic action thriller Enthiran, which became one of the highest grossing Indian films ever. He went on to compose the soundtracks for several other successful movies such as Kaththi, Yaaradi Nee Mohini, Paayum Puli, Annai Kalam etc.

2013–2015: Continued success
Anirudh Arun’s career took off in 2013 when he won the National Film Award for Best Music Direction for Kannada film, Thamassu Manasu. He followed it up with another award for his work on Tamil romantic comedy, Engeyum Kadhal. In 2014, he scored music for his directorial debut, Pazhani, winning rave reviews for his original compositions. His songs for the film became popular among fans. He went on to score music for the Malayalam films, Ee Adutha Kaalathu and Iru Mugan.
His biggest hit came in 2016, with the song “Kaatrin Mozhi”, sung by Shreya Ghoshal, featuring Arijit Singh, from the Telugu movie, Annavra Makkalu. This song topped the charts in India. Later that year, Anirudh composed music for the Tamil film, Vettaikaaran, starring Vijay Sethupathi and Rakul Preet Singh. The soundtrack album sold over 2 million copies and earned the composer five awards including the prestigious Indian Telly Awards in 2017.
In 2017, Anirudh worked with actor Dhanush again, composing the background score for the Tamil thriller, Mersal. The film received positive critical reception, becoming one of the highest grossing South Indian movies of all time.
Anirudh continued his streak of successful collaborations in 2018. First, he composed music for the Telugu film, Pelli Choopulu, starring Nani and Tamannaah Bhatia. Then, he composed music for his second collaboration with Dhanush in the same language, titled Madrasapattinam. Both movies were commercially successful, earning both directors three nominations each for the Filmfare Award for Best Director.
He also wrote lyrics for the Hindi version of the song “Mere Brother Ki Dulhan” from the Pakistani drama film, Jab We Met. The song, sung by Arijit Singh, features vocals from Sukhwinder Singh and Tulsiani. The song was a huge commercial success, topping the charts in India and Pakistan.
In addition, Anirudh scored music for the Tamil film Singam II, starring Kamal Haasan and Suriya. The soundtrack album was well received and earned the composer four awards including the coveted Vijay Award for Best Music Composer.
The following year, Anirudha composed music for the Telangana period film, Veera, starring Pawan Kumar and Nagma. The film garnered positive response from critics and audiences alike. It was declared a blockbuster and emerged as the most profitable film of the year.
2016–2017
Anirudh Thapa – “AvaluKena”
On February 14, 2016, singer-songwriter Anirudh Thapa released his first solo album entitled Avalukena, which translates into “I love you.” This album marks the debut of Anirudh Thapas’ signature sound, which combines elements of Indian folk music with Western pop.
The album features eight tracks including the singles “Holi Holi,” “Avalukena,” “Lakshmi,” “Munni Badnaam Hui,” “Jai Ho,” “Tumhein Toh Yaad Aayega,” “Chaar Dikhaan” and “Tu Hi Tu Hai.”
After a short break, Anurudh released a single called “Hola amigo” in April 2016. He collaborated with Raghubir Gautam and Shreya Ghoshal for the track.
Rum
In May 2016, Aniruddh signed a record deal with rum Records, India’s largest independent label.
2018–present
Anirudh’s career began in 2010 when he won the reality show Indian Idol 3. He went on to win four consecutive seasons of the singing competition. After winning the show, he signed up with Sony Music India and released his first single “Hai Hai Hai”. His second album titled, followed in 2013.
In 2017, he sang the theme song for the filmand the soundtrack composed by A R Rahman. Later that same year, he collaborated with composer Vishal Shekhar for the romantic dramafilm. Anirudh also wrote the songs for the Hindi remake of the Tamil film,which was directed by Shankar Srinivas. The film was dubbed into Malayalam as and released in 2018.
The following year, he worked with director Priyan on the comedy horror film. The film was a success at the box office. In 2019, Anirudh was seen playing a cameo role in the Telugu film,directed by Kona Venkat.
He also starred alongside actress Nani in the Telugu filmin 2019. Directed by Vamsi Paidipally, it was based on the life of late actor Rajendra Prasad. The film was well received by critics and audiences alike. Anirudh has been working on his next project titled, since early 2020.
Jonita Gandhi
Born Jonita Gandhi on October 21st 1990, she is a Canadian playback singer who rose to fame after winning the reality show.
She won the show, titled, in 2012. She went on to release her debut single, “”, which became one of the most downloaded tracks on iTunes within 24 hours of its release. Her second song, “”, was released in 2013 and it too received positive reviews. In 2016, she released her third single, “”, which was described as a “melodious track”. She has since gone on to record several songs including.
In 2017, she released a cover version of the popular Hindi film song, “” sung by Arijit Singh.
Her popularity grew further with the release of her fourth single, “”, featuring rapper Badshah.
Gandhi performed live at the 2018 edition of Coke Studio Season 10. She sang the song “”.
She released her fifth single, on August 31st, 2018. The music video was directed by Akshat Verma and features actor Varun Dhawan.
She released her sixth single,on February 25th, 2019. The music video was shot by director Rohan Sippy.
Personal life
Gandhi married Devdutt Padgaonkar in 2013. They met while studying at the Ivey Business School. In July 2016, Gandhi gave birth to twins, a boy named Siddharth and a girl named Ananya.
Gandhi lives in Toronto with her husband and children.
Career
Gandhi says she never planned to become a singer. Growing up, she says she always had musical aspirations, but it wasn’t until she turned 16 that she really got into songwriting. “I wanted to do something different,” she recalls. “So I thought about becoming a lawyer.” But she soon discovered that she loved singing and playing guitar even more than writing law briefs. So she switched majors.
She enrolled in Ryerson University’s School of Music, where she studied jazz improvisation and classical composition. But she says her love for pop music eventually won out. “I realized I could sing better than most people,” she explains. “And I could write my own songs.”
Her YouTube channel, called “Akash Gandhi”, now has nearly 3 million followers. And since 2012, she’s been releasing original songs like “Chaiyya Chaiyya”. The track became a hit in India and beyond, leading to a string of sold-out concerts across North America.
In 2016, she released her debut album, titled “A Girl Named Love”. It included many of her biggest hits, along with some newer tracks. In 2017, she released another album, called “Love Me Like You Do”, which includes collaborations with artists like Nicki Minaj, Shawn Mendes and Ariana Grande.
