Farruko

The Dominican singer, whose real name is Jose Antonio Morales Rodríguez, is known for his smooth vocals and catchy lyrics. He rose to fame thanks to hits like “Cambio de Vida,” “Hasta El Final,” and “Te Extraño.” His latest single, “La Bicicleta,” features Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny.

Career of Farruko

Farruko began his career around 2007, signing a record deal with Sony Music Entertainment. His debut single “I Like It”, featuring 3, peaked at number one on the Billboard Latin Rhythm Airplay chart.

In 2010, he collaborated with for the track “Hasta El Amanecer”. This song became a hit in Mexico and Latin America. After releasing several singles, including “Amor De Mujer”, “Oye Mi Amante” and “Te Quiero Mucho”, in 2012, Farruko signed with Universal Music Latino.

He released his self-titled EP album in 2013. The lead single “Muevete” topped charts in both countries, while another single, “No Me Doy Por Vencido”, reached the Top 10 in Argentina and Chile.

His second studio album, titled Llegaste Tú, was released in September 2013. Its lead single, “Me Enamora”, became a worldwide success, reaching the Top 5 in many countries, such as Spain, Italy, France, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, Ireland, Netherlands, New Zealand, Australia and Canada.

The following year, he released his third studio album, titled Un Poco de Tu Vida. 2012–2022: Early music

Farruko was born in Havana, Cuba, on October 15, 1984. His parents are Cuban immigrants living in New Jersey. He began singing at age four and took piano lessons at six. At eight, he moved to Miami where he studied classical guitar and later received formal training in vocal production.

His musical career began in 2004, when he recorded his debut album El Regreso de la Comunidad. This was followed by ¡Ya Basta!, which sold over 300,000 copies in less than three months.

On November 20, 2006, Farruko won the Premio Lo Nuestro award for Artist of the Year.

He performed at the 2007 Billboard Latin Music Awards, where he won Top Latin Songwriter of the Year.

In 2008, Farruko signed a contract with Sony BMG.

In 2009, Farruko produced his second studio album, Que Viva La Rock N’ Roll, featuring collaborations with several international musicians such as Juanes, Alejandro Sanz, Carlos Santana, Luis Fonsi, Shakira, Enrique Iglesias, Christina Aguilera, Marc Anthony and Gloria Estefan.

The album debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200 chart in September 2009, selling over 500,000 units in its first week of release.

Arrest

Farruko was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and raised in New York City. His father was a police officer. He began performing music professionally at age 14 while attending high school. In 2005, he won the Latin Grammy Award for Best Urban Music Album for his album El Perdón De La Mujer (“The Woman’s Apology”). He founded the record label Menta Records in 2008.

In 2009, Farruko became a judge on the reality competition show Objetivo Fama (“Fame Objective”), where contestants competed for a recording contract with Sony BMG. He later signed a joint venture deal with Universal Music Group and Warner Bros., which allowed him to release albums independently under the labels’ imprints.

He released his debut studio album, Ayo Technology, in 2010. His second album, El Perdón de la Mujer (“The Woman’s Apology”), was released in 2011 and debuted atop the Billboard Top Latin Albums chart. His third studio album, Farruko, was released in 2013, followed by Mas Flow (2014).

His fourth studio album, Desde Mi Corazón… Con Amor (“From My Heart…”), was released in 2016.

Farruko performed at the 2012 Summer Olympics closing ceremony, singing “La Copa de Oro”, a song originally recorded by Spanish singer Enrique Iglesias featuring American rapper Ludacris.

On June 4, 2012, Farruko married actress Karla Monroig in Las Vegas. They welcomed their first child together, a son named Kairo, on November 10, 2012. Their second son, Jaden, was born on January 25, 2015.

Farruco announced via Instagram that he and his wife are expecting their third child in July 2017. On September 13, 2017, it was revealed that Farruco is expecting twin boys. Their names were announced on February 5, 2018. Their birthdays were celebrated on May 31, 2018.

Farruco was arrested in Puerto Rico on April 3, 2018, accused of hiding $53,000 in undeclarated cash in shoes and luggage upon returning from the Dominican Republic, for which he was required by law to serve three years of probation.

Tours

El Talento del Bloque de la Musica Nacional toured Mexico during 2010 and 2011. During those tours, he performed a total of 27 concerts in 22 cities across the country. He also participated in the Festival Internacional de las Artes y el Derecho de Guadalajara in Jalisco, Mexico, where he sang his song “La Chilindrina”. In addition, the singer performed in several festivals such as Rock al Paraiso, Feria de Tequila and Festival de Música Urbana.

In February 2011, El Talento del Bloque de La Musica Nacional announced the release of his album titled ¡¡¿Ya Está!!. This album includes songs like “Amor”, “Cuando Me Quieras”, “No Puede Ser”, “Cada Vez Que Voy A Amar”, “Nunca Digas Una Palabra Mala”, “Mi Corazón no Se Va Nunca” and others. On April 9, 2011, the singer released the music video for the single “Tu Amor Es Como un Sol”. Later in May, the singer released another music video for the track “Vente Pa’ Ca”.
