Early life
Atif Aslam was born in Islamabad, Pakistan. His family moved to Lahore when he was five years old. He grew up in the city of Gujranwala where his father worked as a doctor. Aslam attended the University of Engineering and Technology, Peshawar and graduated in 2004. In 2005, he began working for Express News TV.In 2007, Aslam won the Hum Award for best actor for his performance in the film Jeevan Chali Jeet. In 2008, he starred in the comedy drama serial Bano Aur Biwi opposite Saima Noori. The following year, he played the lead role in the romantic drama Dil Se.. and the next year, he acted in the action thriller Dastaan.
Aslam married actress Noman Iqbal in 2009. They had been dating since 2006. Their daughter, Zara, was born on 29 May 2010.
He later divorced Noman Iqbal and married model Shazia Manzoor on 14 August 2011. On 20 December 2012, Manzoor gave birth to their son, Armani, and announced her pregnancy on Twitter. She gave birth to their second son, Ali, in April 2013.
On 24 January 2016, it was reported that Aslam was arrested in connection with a murder case. The arrest came after the body of a woman was found buried near the house of one of Aslam’s friends. He was subsequently charged with “forcible confinement”, “kidnapping”, and “failing to disclose information about a crime”. He spent six months in prison prior to being bailed out on bail.
Career
After separation from Jal, Asif Ali Khan released his first album titled Career produced by Jal Pari on 17 July 2004, under the label of Sony Music India. The album received positive reviews and became a commercial success. In 2005, he won the Best Male Playback Singer award at the Filmfare Awards for his song “Chal Ki Baat”. He performed the same song again in the film Jodhaa Akbar. His second album, Mere Mehboob, came out in 2006. Both albums were commercially successful. In 2007, he sang the theme song for the movie Dhoom 2.In 2008, he recorded the soundtrack for the Bollywood film Love Story 2050. This marked the beginning of a long association with composer Aadesh Shrivastava. In 2009, he collaborated with singer KK for the song “Tumne Pyaar Kitna”, which was used as the promotional track for the 2010 Indian film Ek Tha Tiger. Later that year, he recorded the songs “Mujhe Meray Naam Hai” and “Yeh Mera Dil” for the 2011 Hindi film Raaz 3.
In 2012, he composed music for the 2013 romantic comedy film Once Upon a Time in Mumbai Dobaara!. In 2016, he performed the song “Jiya Re” for the 2017 action thriller film Sanju.
2007–2008
Aslam Khan’s third solo album titled “Having 12 Tracks”, released in 2008. It was produced by SARMAD ABDUL GHAFOOR. In 2008, the album got nominated in MERI KAHANI. He sang 3 songs from the film – PEHLI NAZAR MEIN & BAKHUDA TUMHI HO from THE RACE, and another song named CHAATIYAAN from DIL DI PAGAL HOTA HAI.
2009; Debut in Coke Studio
In the 2009 romantic film, Ajab Prem Ki Ghazi Kahani, Shah Rukh Khan sang two songs – “Ajab Prem Ki Ghazban Kahani” and “Tere Mere Sapne”. Both songs are sung by Sonu Nigam.The song “Ajab Prem Ki Ghazban Kahe Nahi”, written by Anand Bakshi, was composed by Aadesh Shrivastava. The music video was directed by Ram Gopal Varma. The lyrics were penned by Sameer. This song was later included in the soundtrack album of the movie.
2011; Step into Pakistani film industry
In 2011, Salman Khan sang two songs – ‘Hona Tha Pyara’ and ‘Kaho Aaj Bol do’, both penned down by Sameer Anjaanan. He also sang a duet with Hadiqa Kiyani for her debut movie Pakistani film, where he played the leading male character.
He has sung many other songs for Bollywood films including and. His latest release is the 2016 Hindi comedy film Race 3, co-starring Jacqueline Fernandez.
Salman Khan has been singing since childhood. He used to sing along with his father, uncle and grandfather while growing up. His mother, Sushila, was a singer too. She often accompanied him on stage.
